How to Find Your Dream Job Part 2

On the first part of this article, you found out the importance of getting the right education, having the right experiences and matching your education, skill and experience to the requirements of the job. There is more that you would have to do though to bag your dream job.

Maintain Realistic Expectations

A good way to get your dream job is to be realistic with your expectations. In other words, bring your dream down to the level that is available. First of all you should consider where you live. If you want to stay and work in Misamis Oriental, you have to accept what it can offer.

Of course, there are a number of large multinational companies in Misamis Oriental but they do not hire everyday and when they do, competition can be stiff. If you do not make it to any of these ideal employers, you might have to work in smaller companies that may only offer the minimum wage and minimum benefits.Consider too that not every kind of job is available in Misamis Oriental. You may not for example be able to find a job here as a museum curator in a museum for European art.

If you can accept what the province has to offer, then you will not have a problem finding your dream job. If however, you continue to seek better compensation, benefits and work conditions, you might want to consider moving to other provinces where your ideal job might be found.

Evaluate the Company

Just because there aren’t that many great opportunities, it doesn’t mean that you should settle for a job that offers less than what is legal. Before you apply for a company, research and find out as much as you can about it. If you find out that it has a reputation for paying below the minimum wage or for not remitting SSS contributions then you are most likely not going to find your dream job there.

Stick Around for Now

If you have been accepted for a job that you are not really crazy about, resist the urge to resign immediately. Evaluate your situation. You might like the tasks and responsibilities that the job entail and would only like to leave because of other factors like work condition or difficult relationships with co-employees. If this is so, consider sticking to your current job for now until you are able to find a more favorable work situation. You will at least be able to get the experience that is needed to get a better job in the future.

You alone can form an image of your dream job. Do consider though that there are many factors that can affect the availability of the job that you want. If you can’t get what you want exactly, you can always CREATE your dream job in your present work situation. All it takes is some flexibility, willpower and imagination.
